The New Path of following Jesus

The New Path of following Jesus *

You want to follow Jesus, great! Your new path forward begins now!

Jesus commands us. Are you ok with following His commands? It will change who you are

The Bible instructs that we are saved by faith alone. What kind of faith does it mean? Surely not a demon’s faith.

Following His commands means you will repent and live according to His vision for you.

To have faith in Jesus means you trust Him and His instructions for you. You are now trusting in Jesus

Simple to read Jesus’ commands, not so simple to follow. You will have to give up things you want. Even Jesus did this.

Jesus said if you love Him, you will follow His commands.

Trust His way and repent of your own ways. Are you sure you are ready? It’s a big step to take.

This is serious! People will now judge God by your actions as a confessed Christian.

1 Corinthians 5:9-12

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people. Not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, in that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people. What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked person from among you.

Belonging to Christ Jesus: Involves Changing your wants and desires to God’s wants and desires.

If you are truly sorry for your sins, a contrite heart, you will not keep doing those things you have already been convicted of. True sorrow brings repentance. This means you don’t want to continually grieve the Holy Spirit with your behavior. God cares, He wants better for you.

John 14:23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.  My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

Galatians 5:16-17 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.  For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.  They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

Galatians 5:19-24 The acts of the flesh are obvious; Sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, idolatry, and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissention, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like, I warn you as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.  Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Gal 6:7-8 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked.  A man reaps what he sows.  Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destructions; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

Eph 2:1-3  As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.  All of us also lived amount them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts.

1 Cor 6:9-11    Or do you not know that wrong does will not inherit the kingdom of God?  Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral- nor idolaters no adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanders- nor swindlers will in inherit the kingdom of God.  And that is what some of you were.  But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Cor 6:18-20  Flee from sexual immorality.  All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually sins against their own body.  Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought at a price.  Therefor honor God with your bodies.
