Jesus warns our churches! The warnings are more relavent today then ever before.
Don’t lose our first love!
Do good works but don’t lose our first love. The fire, the loving hearts that God wants us to have. Loving God and others are the two most important commands.
Warning against following Balaam’s teachings!
Balaam is a biblical figure whose story teaches us the following lessons:
God sees your heart, so heed his call.
Enticing others to sin will be the death of something.
God is in charge.
Balaam's story is also used as a warning against false teachers. Ungodly people were rebuked for "Balaam's error". Jesus himself reprimanded people in the church at Pergamum who held to "the teaching of Balaam," corrupting others into idolatry and immorality.
Jesus hates the teachings of the Nicolaitans!
The Nicolaitans were a group of people in the 1st and 2nd centuries who held to the freedom of the flesh and sin. They taught that the deeds of the flesh had no effect upon the health of the soul and consequently no relation to salvation. The Nicolaitans are linked with two main teachings: sexual immorality and eating food offered to idols
Beware of the Teachings of Jezabel!
When reading Jezebel’s story she reveals herself to be revengeful, lustful, savage, cunning, influential, murderous, and sinful.
Christ refers to the person of Jezebel as a spirit in the second chapter of Revelation. In Revelation 2:20, our Lord spoke directly to the angel of the church in Thyatira, saying: “Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.”
